| 2010 Annual Fund Drive |
The Middlesex County Museum & Historical Society strives to promote, preserve, and present the history of our county, and we need your help to accomplish this mission. The goal of our 2010 Annual Fund Drive is to raise money for a historically significant project. Plans involve restoration of the old clerk's office located on the grounds of the historic courthouse in Saluda. Mr. Philemon T. Woodward was Middlesex County's first clerk, and he is most notable for safeguarding the county records from destruction during the Civil War. Plans are to recreate his office and develop a timeline style display to reflect local events of the county. The museum depends on individual donations for most of our operating expenses. Please consider maintaining an annual membership. Members receive a 10% discount in the gift shop and invitations to museum sponsored programs. New genealogy and local interest books are available for sale or reference, and purchases may also be made directly from our website at middlesexmuseum.com. Volunteers are an integral part of a museum community, and special recognition goes to Mrs. Helen Chandler, who has donated many hours of her time and expertise to help properly catalogue and conserve our exhibits. We are grateful for her commitment and welcome the support of anyone willing to volunteer their services. Annual contributions in 2009 made possible major repairs and upgrades to the annex building and provided display cases which may now be used for exhibits and special events. Let's rally our support again to better showcase our county's exciting past. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. Marilyn South, President |
